Zgorzelec officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław stopped a transport carrying illegal waste on the A4 motorway, near Jędrzychowice. KAS: – The driver was carrying waste from Switzerland. During the inspection, officers discovered the illegal transport of 18 tonnes of used clothing and various contaminated textiles.
It adds: – The recipient did not have a permit for processing and was unable to recover plastics in accordance with the regulations.
The outcome? The Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection deemed the shipment an illegal movement of waste. Customs and Tax Service officers secured the trailer and its cargo for criminal proceedings. The recipient of the waste faces a fine of between PLN 50,000 and PLN 500,000.
