All three chickpea hummus products (Topping Czerwone Pesto) had valid expiry dates (two until May 24 and one until May 29). We took the photos on May 18.
The mold may go unnoticed when shopping because it is covered by the label on the lid. You have to remove the lid to see whether the product is fit for consumption.
We had been receiving reports for several months that there was mold in hummus from Biedronka. However, these were occasional reports, and those who submitted them sent photographs after the expiry date. Now, though, we have our own photographs—additionally, taken 8 and 12 days before the use-by date. All the products were refrigerated and had undamaged packaging. It therefore appears that the hummus had already failed to meet microbiological cleanliness standards at the producer's facility.
We hope that Biedronka will take a closer look at the quality of its hummus.
