National Police Headquarters:

Roe deer, foxes and wild boar, while searching for food, often come dangerously close to the roads we travel on. Many animals are currently migrating in search of food and a new place to live, and one of the most difficult obstacles for them to overcome is the roads crossing their migration routes. Animals are most active at dusk and dawn; let us remember to be especially careful at these times, because the consequences of such a collision can be catastrophic.

Police officers appeal to drivers to exercise particular caution on roads near forests, meadows and fields: – Let us not ignore the A18-b road sign, “Beware of wild animals.” Such signs are installed in places where these hazards frequently occur.

They add:

A driver traveling at excessive speed may not have enough time to brake safely or perform an avoidance maneuver, and a collision between a car and an animal running onto the road can have serious consequences or even end tragically for both the animal and the vehicle’s passengers. Therefore, we once again appeal for caution, adjusting speed to road conditions and simply taking your foot off the accelerator.

They also add: – Whenever we enter forested areas or places where wild animals may appear, let us ease off the accelerator pedal – this will give us a better chance of reacting when an unexpected visitor suddenly enters the road.
