As a Reader reports, work has already begun on the construction of a bridge over the Bóbr River:
The trees have been cut down and the equipment is already there.
Let us remind you. On 10 April, we reported that the project would begin with preparatory and protection works on the bridge structure. The project will take three years. First, the northern bridge will be built, followed by the southern bridge.
It is worth recalling that the old bridge in Bolesławiec will be replaced by two new ones. The investor is the Wrocław Branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. The most advantageous bid for the expansion of the road system, including the reconstruction of the existing bridge and construction of a new bridge over the Bóbr River along national road No. 94 in Bolesławiec, worth approximately PLN 41 million, was submitted by Himmel i Papesch Opole. The contractor has 32 months from the date of signing the contract to complete the project, including obtaining the occupancy permit. This means that completion of the works is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
The existing bridge will be demolished due to its poor technical condition and non-standard parameters, and a new one will be built in its place. In addition, a second bridge will be built on the northern side, resulting in two parallel twin bridges. A section of the dual-carriageway DK94 will also be built. Each of the new bridges will have a two-lane roadway, a sidewalk and a bicycle path. This solution will provide good connections between the two banks of the river not only for motor vehicles, but also for pedestrians and cyclists. Turbo roundabouts will be constructed at both ends of the bridge crossings, with dimensions ensuring smooth traffic flow and complete freedom to choose the direction of travel.
As part of the project, the DK94 will be reconstructed along a section of nearly 600 metres, and its load-bearing capacity will be increased to 11.5 tonnes per axle. A roundabout will be built at the site of the current DK94 intersection with Widok Street (provincial road No. 350), while the existing roundabout with Zgorzelecka Street will be reconstructed. Two DK94 intersections will also be reconstructed: with Spacerowa Street (county road No. 2324D) and with a municipal road (No. 104068D). Bus bays will be relocated outside the main traffic flow zone, and a sidewalk will be added on the northern side. A stormwater drainage system, road lighting and road safety features will be built. The reconstruction of the DK94, together with the construction of two bridges, will increase the capacity of the road system and improve road safety. Completion of the reconstruction is planned for 2026. The project will be financed from the state budget.
