– Police officers from the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters’ Department for Combating Property Crime have completed an investigation into a dishonest postal employee. The 46-year-old woman, working as a postal worker, failed to deliver money orders together with cash to postal customers – explains asp. szt. Monika Kaleta from the Wrocław Provincial Police Headquarters. – The case came to light when one of the recipients realised that they had not received the money. An internal inspection at the post office showed that, instead of handing the money over to residents of Legnica County, the woman was taking it for herself.

As officers established, at least 23 people were victims. They lost more than PLN 24,000 in total.

The dishonest postal worker was charged with 23 offences in total. During questioning, the woman attributed her actions to financial problems.

The 46-year-old woman declared that she would return the money to the victims. She now faces up to five years in prison.
