The project will begin with preparatory and protective works on the bridge structure. The project will take three years. First, the northern bridge will be built, followed by the southern bridge.
It is worth recalling that the old bridge in Bolesławiec will be replaced by two new ones. The investor is the Wrocław Branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. The most advantageous bid for the expansion of the transport system, including the reconstruction of the existing bridge and construction of a new bridge over the Bóbr River along national road No. 94 in Bolesławiec, worth approximately PLN 41 million, was submitted by Himmel i Papesch Opole. The contractor has 32 months from the date of signing the contract to complete the project, including obtaining the occupancy permit. This means that the works are scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The existing bridge will be demolished due to its poor technical condition and non-standard parameters, and a new one will be built in its place. In addition, a second bridge will be built on the northern side, resulting in two parallel twin bridges. A section of the dual-carriageway DK94 will also be built. Each new bridge will have a two-lane carriageway, as well as a sidewalk and a cycle path. This solution will ensure good connections between the two riverbanks not only for motor vehicles, but also for pedestrians and cyclists. Turbo roundabouts of dimensions ensuring smooth traffic flow and complete freedom to choose the direction of travel will be built at both ends of the bridge crossing.
As part of the project, nearly 600 m of DK94 will be reconstructed, and its load-bearing capacity will be increased to 11.5 tonnes per axle. A roundabout will be built at the current intersection of DK94 and Widok Street (voivodeship road No. 350), while the existing roundabout at Zgorzelecka Street will be reconstructed. Two other DK94 intersections will also be reconstructed: with Spacerowa Street (county road No. 2324D) and with a municipal road (No. 104068D). Bus bays will be moved outside the main traffic-flow zone, and a sidewalk will be added on the northern side. A stormwater drainage system, road lighting and road traffic safety elements will be built. The reconstruction of DK94 together with the construction of two bridges will increase the capacity of the transport system and improve road safety. The reconstruction is scheduled for completion in 2026. The project will be financed from the state budget.
