A reader wrote to the editorial office to express his dissatisfaction that the sports field at the first general secondary school is closed at weekends. He felt that children from the nearby housing estate would like to play on this field precisely at weekends. He also added that the fire road is closed. We asked the headteacher of the Liceum Ogólnokształcącego what the reasons for this situation were. The response is below:

I would like to inform you that the sports field is open during the school's working hours (on weekdays, even until 10 p.m.), because the manager of the school grounds is responsible for the safety of people staying on the field. At the same time, I would like to remind you that the sports-field complex at I Liceum Ogólnokształcące is a school sports field for the use of ILO and ZSE students; it is not a publicly accessible "Orlik" facility for city residents. The fire gate, as its name indicates, is a gate opened in the event of a fire, and the procedures for opening it in the event of a fire
are established with the fire brigade. The hole in the fence, on the other hand, is the result of the school property being vandalized by people who take a shortcut through the school grounds and have repeatedly destroyed this section of the fence.
