A reader told us about the trapped bird at around 3 p.m. The man also spoke of the lack of response from the parish priest of the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bolesławiec.
Several hours later, other residents notified the Fire Service about the trapped pigeon. The firefighters who arrived at the scene were not welcomed by Father Stanisław Kusik with open arms.
According to eyewitnesses, Father Stanisław Kusik prohibited the firefighters from cutting through the bars to free the pigeon. He allegedly justified this by saying that the bars were too expensive. He reportedly argued with the firefighters and threatened to file a complaint against them for damaging the asphalt near the church. He also allegedly took a photograph of one of the firefighters and said something about the costs.
The firefighters cut through the bars and freed the pigeon.
We called the parish house, but no one answered. We recorded a message and asked the parish priest to contact us. We will also send an email to the parish office address.
We remind the parish priest of the parish whose name, aptly enough, includes “perpetual help” that the smaller brother trapped in the church window is protected—if not by mercy, then by Article 6 of the Animal Protection Act, which prohibits killing animals and abusing them.
