Mayor Piotr Roman informed the councillors that he had met with Major General Christopher R. Norriem. The mayor said: – We discussed the need to establish an organization or association that would handle two-way communication in order to improve cooperation.

At the same time, a representative of the American administration met with the owners of more than 20 food-service establishments. The aim was to create a channel for exchanging information and for “resolving on an ad hoc basis any potential problems resulting from the presence of American customers,” a so-called hotline.

– There are a great many American soldiers in Bolesławiec. We are very happy about this, and service establishments are the happiest of all – P. Roman stressed. – But sometimes there are problems, as there always are with young people – he concluded.
