District police officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters detained a 42-year-old man who drove to the station in response to a summons, despite an active court-ordered driving ban.

The Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters explains:

The resident of Bolesławiec County was supposed to be questioned as part of legal assistance for another unit. When he reported to the headquarters, the district officer, confirming his identity, checked the man’s details in police systems. It first turned out that he was wanted by the District Court in Lubin because he had a prison sentence to serve for persistent harassment.

The result? The man was detained. But that was not the end of it. The officers said: “It then turned out that the 42-year-old had a car key in his pocket, and the officers knew that he was subject to a court-ordered driving ban.

They added:

Despite the man’s assurances that he had not arrived by car, the police first reviewed surveillance footage from the police unit, which showed the 42-year-old walking onto the headquarters’ premises.

However, the Bolesławiec district officers were inquisitive. It quickly became clear that the wanted man had tried to outwit them. The police said: “He parked the car he had driven in at a nearby petrol station.

They concluded: “The man will spend the next year in prison and will also answer for violating the court-ordered ban, which carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison.”
