Lwówek police on the incident:
On Wednesday afternoon, officers from the Traffic Division and the Police Station in Gryfów Śląski worked until late evening at the scenes of road incidents that occurred on national road no. 30, near Radoniów.
The police officers’ preliminary findings indicated that the 29-year-old driver of an Opel failed to exercise due caution and, in order to avoid a collision with a Mazda whose 23-year-old driver was turning left, moved into the opposite lane. The vehicles then collided side-on.
A VW traveling behind them, because it was not keeping a sufficient distance from the cars ahead, struck the rear of the Mazda. During the ensuing procedures, it emerged that the VW driver was banned from driving, and that his vehicle was not authorized for use on Polish roads.
That was not the end of it, however. The 58-year-old female driver of an oncoming Toyota, a resident of Lubań County, saw a vehicle in her lane with which she might collide head-on and began braking. The 61-year-old female driver of an Opel behind her, also a resident of Lubań County, did not anticipate this, failed to keep a safe distance and struck the rear of the Toyota.
Fortunately, no one suffered serious bodily injuries. All the drivers were sober.
The incident occurred on March 13, several minutes after 3:00 p.m., on national road no. 30, between Krzewie Wielkie and Radoniów.
