Jelenia Góra criminal investigators identified and then arrested a 30-year-old man suspected of robbery theft. – The incident took place on January 22 this year at one of Jelenia Góra’s discount grocery stores – explains Asp. Aleksandra Pieprzycka of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

She adds: – The man stole a box of chocolate worth more than PLN 300, and when a security employee tried to take it away from him, a struggle broke out. During it, he struck the victim and then fled, ultimately taking three chocolate bars, as the rest had scattered.

While carrying out activities in the case, police officers reviewed surveillance camera footage and recognized the perpetrator. The spokeswoman said: – He turned out to be a 30-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra who committed the crime while subject to so-called recidivism. He is well known to uniformed officers for committing other similar offenses.

The suspect was arrested on January 26. That same day, he was taken to the prosecutor’s office, where he was charged. Then, at the investigators’ request, the 30-year-old was placed in temporary custody for three months.

The chocolate lover now faces up to 10 years in prison.
