The section of Dolne Młyny Street where the asphalt has been torn away to a depth of several centimetres is difficult to avoid when other cars are coming from the opposite direction. According to information we received from the Bolesławiec District Roads Authority, repair work will begin tomorrow, January 5, provided nothing prevents it. We can only warn drivers travelling there to be careful and not drive too fast.
What should you do if your vehicle is damaged as a result of driving into a pothole in the road?
Insurance companies recommend the following steps:
- Call the police or municipal police to the scene. Their report from the scene will be crucial in further proceedings. The report must include: the time and place of the incident, an exact description of the vehicle damage, and the appearance of the damaged road surface that caused the incident.
- Determine who is responsible for managing the road. In this case, it is the Bolesławiec County authorities.
- Take photographs of the damage to the car and the scene of the incident.
- If there are witnesses to the incident, try to obtain written statements from them.
- Obtain a repair estimate from a workshop and arrange for an expert appraisal.
- Keep the damaged, replaced part available for inspection as evidence in the case.
The road manager’s liability for the damage lasts for three years—that is how long we have to submit a claim.
