The new studios of the International Ceramics Centre are full of life. More than 150 children took part in the “Pumpkin Carving” art workshops held in four studios. They painted Halloween monsters, made creatures from various materials, created pumpkin lanterns from tissue paper, worked with clay and carved the pumpkins specially gathered for the workshops. Some of the children were accompanied by their parents, aunts and uncles. The adults became just as involved in the fun as the children.

In addition to painting, modelling and carving, the children could paint one another’s faces themselves. Monsters, mummies, zombies, witches and vampires moved from studio to studio to show off their creations and face paintings.

The workshops were organised very professionally. The children worked under the supervision of instructors, who advised them on how to handle the technique chosen by each child and how to finish and enhance the work being created in terms of colour and form. The children could also learn new artistic techniques and try their artistic skills with several different materials.

The parents emphasised how appealing the activities were and were pleased with their variety and with the well-equipped studios available to everyone interested.
