From December 10, 22 pairs of Koleje Dolnośląskie trains have been running on the Wrocław – Brzeg Dolny – Wołów – Ścinawa – Głogów route. Four of them will continue to Nowa Sól, the third-largest city in Lubusz Voivodeship.
“Our goal is to effectively combat transport exclusion among the residents of Lower Silesia. We have just restored Świeradów-Zdrój to Poland’s railway map, and next year our trains will reach, among other places, Karpacz. We are delivering on the promises we made in 2018, when we promised the people of Lower Silesia the development of railways,” says Cezary Przybylski, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
From December 2023, only Koleje Dolnośląskie trains will operate on the Nadodrzanka line. This is a response to numerous signals from residents of the municipalities located along the route, who had expected improved service quality.
Previously, Koleje Dolnośląskie operated only five pairs of trains between Wrocław and Głogów or Ścinawa. In the future, the return of another carrier operating four pairs on the Wrocław – Zielona Góra route has not been ruled out. However, also to the benefit of residents of Lubusz Voivodeship, modern Elf 2 trains—five-car vehicles straight from the Pesa factory in Bydgoszcz—will also reach Zielona Góra.
“For 15 years, we have been creating a modern regional railway and a modern metropolitan railway. The new timetable brings a record number of connections. Our presence on the Nadodrzanka line has grown, and in the near future passengers will feel it even more. From December 10, you can travel from Wołów to Wrocław on our train in 34 minutes,” says Wojciech Zdanowski, Vice President of Koleje Dolnośląskie.
Local government officials confirm that residents of the municipalities along the Nadodrzanka line wanted modern, air-conditioned, five-car Koleje Dolnośląskie trains to serve the route:
“This is a special day for the people of Wołów. The Marshal is opening a window to the world for us, and that is very important. Good transport means the freedom to commute to work and school, as well as the opportunity to organize one’s leisure time. It is an important day for the residents of the entire county. I would only add that the place where we are standing was recently degraded, and thanks to the Marshal’s support, we managed to renovate it using RPO funds,” adds Dariusz Chmura, Mayor of Wołów.
“On behalf of the residents, I would like to thank the Marshal for not forgetting Wołów and Wołów County. Thanks to his support, we can develop and raise our standard of living,” adds Jan Tomków, Chairperson of the Wołów Municipal Council.
For 15 years, Koleje Dolnośląskie has operated regional passenger services on behalf of the Marshal’s Office. During that time, it has carried more than 100 million passengers, growing from a modest 340,000 km traveled annually to more than 1 million km traveled by its trains every month.
