We recall smaller and greater achievements and the goals we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year, which we managed to accomplish. In this exceptional festive atmosphere, the military community gathered for a soldiers’ Christmas Eve celebration at the 23rd Artillery Regiment.
The Christmas Eve meeting was opened by the commander of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Colonel Krzysztof Malankiewicz, with wishes of peace, joy and family warmth during the upcoming Christmas season:
– I wish you a peaceful and healthy Christmas spent in a family atmosphere, and I hope the new year brings satisfaction both in your professional work and personal life – said the commander of the Bolesławiec artillerymen. He also thanked everyone for the conscientious performance of their tasks and official duties during the passing year.
The Christmas wishes and the commander’s words reached the soldiers serving in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the 26th rotation of the Polish Military Contingent EUFOR. During a videoconference, they were able, if only for a moment, to take a break from their daily duties and join their colleagues and families waiting for their return home after completing their mandated tasks.
The commander of the EUFOR ALTHEA Polish Military Contingent, Lieutenant Colonel Dominik Kasperek, together with the contingent’s subordinate soldiers, conveyed to those gathered moments filled with mutual goodwill and joy, bringing peace and rest, as well as the energy needed to achieve all their intended goals.
After the chaplain of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant Artur Janczarek, read a passage from the Gospel about the Nativity and blessed the Christmas Eve dishes, the guests and soldiers “shared the Christmas wafer,” exchanging Christmas wishes. In accordance with Polish tradition, the participants ended the gathering by tasting Christmas Eve dishes to the accompaniment of Polish carols performed by students of the State Music School in Bolesławiec.
