The memory of the events that took place on 13 December 1981 is extremely important for Poland. It was then, as a result of a decision by the State Council of the time, that martial law was introduced, significantly affecting the lives and fates of many Poles.
After speeches by the invited guests, wreaths were laid and candles lit to honor the memory of those who died and those who fought for democracy during martial law. The Bolesławiec County Head, together with other representatives of local-government and uniformed services, social organizations, and students from county schools, paid tribute by laying symbolic red-and-white bouquets of flowers at the monument.
The ceremony commemorating the introduction of martial law was an important moment for reflecting on the past, but also an opportunity to commit to the continued defense of our rights and freedoms.
