Only last year, 172 dog bites occurred in Bolesławiec County. Three-quarters of the cases concerned the city itself. In such situations, it is important to quickly establish the dog’s details and whether it had been vaccinated. This will be one of the purposes served by a microchip implanted under the dog’s skin.
The chip will contain information about the dog, including the owner’s details and the date on which the dog ownership tax was paid.
Dog owners will have until the end of November to have their dogs marked. During this period, chip implantation will be free of charge. After that, owners will have to pay for it. Avoiding this obligation will be punishable by a fine.
The municipal police will be responsible for maintaining the register of marked dogs and inspecting them. Until the municipal police are operational, these tasks will be performed by the Municipal Office’s Municipal Affairs Department.
The chips will be implanted at selected veterinary clinics. The resolution received positive opinions from the County Sanitary Inspector and the County Veterinary Inspector.
