The incident occurred on November 14 near Golnice. A kitten became tangled in barbed wire. As reported by
Bezpieczna Przystań Animal Aid Foundation:
Today I cut my finger. Damn, by accident. Through my own stupidity. Hell, I swore under my breath. Blood poured out in a stream. A tiny wound, just a few millimetres long, made itself known to me all day. I felt discomfort with every activity. Despite the dressing, despite the plaster, I did everything very carefully today. I did not want to cause myself any additional pain...
Bezpieczna Przystań reported on the incident
And added:
I cannot even imagine what he is feeling. The mere thought makes me nauseous. Half of his paw completely stripped of skin. Flesh, muscles, everything exposed. On top of that, rusty barbed wire wrapped around him and tightening. He must have struggled terribly to free himself from the trap he had found himself in. Instinct took over. Shock. He felt incredible pain, so he wanted to break free at any cost. He wanted to hide somewhere safe and wait for the pain to stop...
Fortunately, that did not happen. Fortunately, some kind soul noticed his suffering. They heard a terrifying, lung-rending scream. They saw his heroic struggle for life. Fortunately, the fire service (the firefighters from Trzebień – istotne.pl editorial noteistotne.pl) managed to pull the kitten out of the tangle of wires. Fortunately, he came under our care. Fortunately, he is not sitting somewhere in the bushes, far from human eyes. He would have died very slowly. In unimaginable agony. An infection would have set in very quickly. He would have grown weaker day by day. He would have suffered more and more each day...
He is no longer in pain. The wire has been removed. He was given strong painkillers. The wound was dressed. Now, slowly and quietly, in a warm place, he is recovering from these traumatic experiences. Today (November 14 – istotne.pl editorial noteistotne.pl) he fought for his life for a long time; today he suffered a great deal. (...)
Bezpieczna Przystań concludes:
And I sit and look at my finger with a plaster stuck to it, wondering how we will pay the next bill. How we will support another kitten. His recovery will take a very, very long time.…
