Karol Wójcicki, an enthusiast of the night sky, astronomy popularizer, science journalist, television presenter and creator of Poland’s largest astronomy fan page “Z głową w gwiazdach”, wrote yesterday:
It seems that we witnessed one of the most beautiful displays of the northern lights since 2003. If it had not been for the clouds, the aurora could have been seen with the naked eye from absolutely ALL of Poland. It was observed even from the center of Kraków and from the very foot of the Tatra Mountains!

The aurora was caused by one of the CMEs (coronal mass ejections from the Sun) emitted over the past few days passing through Earth (…).
I am absolutely delighted that so many of you managed to observe this incredible spectacle in the sky, despite the exceptionally unfavorable weather conditions.
