What was it?

On the night of September 7–8, 2025, we were able to observe an extraordinary spectacle in the sky—a total lunar eclipse. This phenomenon, commonly called a blood moon, occurs when our natural satellite enters completely into Earth's shadow and takes on a characteristic deep red color. This is the result of sunlight scattering in Earth's atmosphere—only longer wavelengths of light, namely shades of red and orange, reach the Moon.

The September eclipse was particularly impressive because the total phase lasted as long as 82 minutes, making it one of the longer eclipses in recent years. The phenomenon could be observed in many places around the world.

For astronomers and fans of the night sky, it was one of the most interesting events of the year. Lunar eclipses are relatively common, but each has its own unique character—they differ in duration, color intensity, and observing conditions.
