The incident occurred on Thursday, June 26, at around 2:00 p.m., in Siekierczyn in Lubań County. As reported by the eluban.pl website:
The man, climbing onto the steep roof of a two-story building, was aware of the danger he faced, which is why he had previously tied a rope around his waist.
At one point, his household members heard a noise. The Lubań-based outlet reported:
(…) when they ran outside, they saw the homeowner hanging from a rope on the roof slope. The man showed no signs of life, and there was no way to approach him to provide assistance.
The emergency services were called to the scene. – To gain access to the man, firefighters dismantled part of the roof from the inside and evacuated him to the attic – Brigadier Janusz Gabryś, deputy commander of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Lubań, said in an interview with the aforementioned portal. – Unfortunately, the emergency medical team that arrived at the scene determined that the man was already dead.
The police and prosecutor’s office are investigating the causes and circumstances of the tragedy.
