The lwowek24.pl website published an article with the telling title “It would be faster to WALK from Lwówek to Bolesławiec than for their hospital to answer the phone,” which is “a story of frustration in contacts with the Imaging Diagnostics Unit of the Saint Luke’s Hospital in Bolesławiec.”
The Lwówek outlet:
Our story begins when one of our readers, who lives in Lwówek Śląski, needed a medical consultation at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Bolesławiec. At around 1:50 p.m., she decided to call the facility to schedule diagnostic tests. When she called the diagnostic department’s telephone number, she heard that she was sixth in line. Assuming that this was a normal situation at a medical facility, she decided to wait patiently for her turn.
Time passed, but the woman was still in the queue. After hours of waiting, she still had not spoken with medical staff. What is more, with each passing minute, the number of people ahead of her was decreasing at a surprisingly slow pace. Ultimately, after 3 hours and 35 minutes of waiting, the call was disconnected.
The portal concludes: – After so many hours of waiting, the woman was left with nothing, unable to schedule tests or a medical consultation. When she called back, she heard that she was eleventh in line. That was when she realized that “it would be faster to walk from Lwówek to Bolesławiec” and handle the matter in person.
The article’s author notes: – It turns out that walking from Lwówek Śląski to Bolesławiec—the distance is 16.9 km—takes approximately 3 hours and 49 minutes. That is only slightly longer than the time spent in the hospital’s telephone queue, which ended in failure.
We officially asked the Bolesławiec facility about the matter. We will publish its response as soon as we receive it.
