The criminal operation was discovered on September 10, 2022, during firefighters’ response to a fire in one of the villages in the Chocianów municipality. – That day, the District Police Headquarters in Polkowice received a report of a fire in an unused single-family house. At the scene – following the firefighting operation conducted by the State Fire Service – a methamphetamine production line was discovered in the building’s attic; due to the fire that had broken out, it had partially burned – reports prosecutor Lidia Tkaczyszyn, press spokesperson for the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica.

She adds: – During the inspection of the building, items and substances used to produce drugs were secured, including chemical reagents and equipment.

Moreover, manufactured methamphetamine weighing a total of more than 1 kg (several thousand retail doses of the drug) was also secured. Its black-market value: more than PLN 450,000.

The defendants

Prosecutor L. Tkaczyszyn:

As established during the investigation, the property had been used since August 8, 2022, on the basis of a preliminary sale agreement concluded with the previous owner, by the defendant in this case, Sławomir P. From the time this defendant took over the property, electricity consumption there, used for drug production, increased significantly.

Sławomir P. was seen on the premises. Documents belonging to the second defendant in this case, Dominika G., were found at the scene. Investigators: – Genetic testing of biological traces found on the pieces of evidence at the scene also confirmed this defendant’s involvement in the criminal operation of producing drugs conducted on the premises. The secured traces indicate that there was at least one more unidentified co-perpetrator of the crime.

What charges did they face?

The prosecutor charged Sławomir P. and Dominika G. with producing – jointly and in agreement with each other and with other people – significant quantities of psychotropic substances in the form of methamphetamine. The indictment alleges that the act was committed for financial gain.

The defendants did not plead guilty to the acts with which they were charged. The prosecutor’s office: – They presented accounts of the events that contradict the objective evidence gathered.

It adds: – The defendants’ act constitutes a felony punishable by a fine and imprisonment for no less than 3 years.
