From September 28 to October 8, the Forest Service of Bolesławiec Forest District took part in the “Autumn 2023” campaign organized by the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Wrocław.
Bolesławiec Forest District summed up the campaign as follows:
Based on the annual observations and statistics kept by Forest Service officers, it can be concluded that awareness among our local community of the damage caused by using the forest in violation of regulations is steadily improving, but unfortunately it is not yet ideal.
The foresters added:
During this year’s campaign, the perpetrators of the illegal harvesting of grey reindeer moss, which is under partial protection, were detained. Growing in clusters, this moss creates a fairytale atmosphere in the forest and adds exceptional charm to some places. Unfortunately, there are also people who decide to make money from it—at the expense of the environment and other forest users.
The perpetrators of the illegal cutting of shrubs, destruction of the forest floor, attempted theft of timber, and felling and theft of trees to the detriment of one of the municipalities were also detained.
