On Friday, October 6, after 8 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a fire in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki. The palace building that belonged to the former State Agricultural Farm is burning. According to information from readers, the building’s roof caught fire.
The palace, which housed a State Agricultural Farm after the war, was built in 1701 and rebuilt in the 19th century. At that time, it belonged to Friedrich Theodor von Merckel, president of the Province of Silesia. After World War II, it was adapted, together with the former farm buildings, for use as a State Agricultural Farm. The palace building housed offices, and a thorough renovation was carried out in the 1960s and 1970s. The palace fell into ruin only after 1989, when the State Agricultural Farm was dissolved.
