Yesterday, a woman posing as a police officer called the landline of an 87-year-old resident of Bolesławiec. She informed him that the senior’s daughter had caused a road accident in which a pregnant woman had lost her baby.

Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters: “ The phone was handed to the ‘daughter,’ who, crying, asked the man for help and to hand over PLN 145,000. The senior said he would help, but had less cash at his disposal. The fake police officer said that, for a specified amount, the prosecutor would agree to release his daughter, but they had to act quickly while the accident victim was still alive.

At the same time, the scammer obtained the elderly man’s mobile phone number and connected with him on a second line.

An alleged lawyer arrived at the 87-year-old’s home to collect the money. When his real daughter appeared at the senior’s house two hours later, the man realized that he had fallen victim to criminals.

The detailed method used by the scammers is deliberately provided to raise awareness of the situations we may encounter and the elements that are repeatedly used.
