Services were immediately sent to the scene, including police patrols, the fire brigade and paramedics. The spokeswoman said: – Officers from the explosives and pyrotechnics unit searched the building and the surrounding area for the alleged explosive devices. Residents left their apartments for the duration of these operations.

The alarm turned out to be false. Officers quickly identified the caller as a 50-year-old resident of Lubin. The man was arrested. He was completely drunk; a test showed 2 per mille of alcohol in his system.

Why did he do it? Aspirant szt. S. Serafin:

He explained his behavior by saying that, due to a gas leak and its temporary shutoff by the gas emergency service, he did not have hot water in his apartment. He thought that by calling the emergency number, he would speed up the repair of the failure.

The extremely irresponsible man now faces up to 8 years in prison.
