The second Equality March (Christopher Street Day) in Görlitz will take place on Saturday, 30 September, under the slogan "Hand in Hand – miteinander gehen! Let’s walk together, holding hands!". The organizers of the First Equality March in Bolesławiec will join it to celebrate the freedom and equality of all people together.
On 30 September, the city of Görlitz in Saxony will once again become a central point on the map of events for queer people and LGBTIQ+ friends. "Hand in Hand – miteinander gehen! Let’s walk together, holding hands!" is the slogan of the second Equality March. At the same time, it is the FIRST cross-border event in the region.
The Equality March (Christopher Street Day – CSD) is a demonstration in support of tolerance, equal rights and recognition of the rights of LGBTIQ+ people. By marching through the European City of Görlitz/Zgorzelec, the organizers want to send a signal to queer people and civil society that hatred and intolerance have no place in the city and region.
The demonstration is organized by the CSD Görlitz Alliance, which consists of party-political organizations as well as other partners and social associations. The partners include local businesses, organizations and the Partnership for Democracy Görlitz. The Wildwuchs e.V. association supports the project by collecting donations and providing legal support.
The warm-up will be a queer evening at the “Camillo” cinema on Friday, 29 September. Short films will be shown from 19:00. From 21:00, the “Hotti” bar will open its doors, with live music adding variety to the evening. Admission is free. Donations are welcome.
On Saturday, 30 September, at 13:00, a demonstration through Görlitz and Zgorzelec will take place. The starting point is Görlitz railway station. The march will end at around 15:00 in the city park. The Diversity Picnic will begin there. Time spent together with speeches, a stage program, various stalls and live music by the band “State of Heart” from Weißwasser.
From around 19:00, a party will take place at Nostromo club. On two dance floors, guests will be able to have fun and dance to techno and alternative pop. Weather permitting, an outdoor lounge will also be open. Young people up to the age of 16 are welcome until 22:00, upon presentation of an admission card signed by a guardian.
