The co-chairman of the Lower Silesian New Left, Arkadiusz Sikora, is running for the Sejm from first place in Electoral District No. 1. On Wednesday, 23 August, the politician visited Bolesławiec. Also running for the Sejm on the Left’s list are Łukasz Klimowski and Danuta Gajlewicz—both from Bolesławiec.

Arkadiusz Sikora:

(...) Ladies and gentlemen, we are here to look after the interests of this region. We will not focus only on nationwide matters; just as the Left has so far engaged in social and welfare issues, we will continue to pursue these matters. Three things are most important to us in this electoral district. The first is the KGHM copper tax, which is being collected unjustly. We want the bulk of these funds to flow here to Lower Silesia, because this money is needed here.

The second issue is the problem of the Turów mine and power plant. Law and Justice promised that funds from the Just Transition Fund would come to this region specifically for development and the energy transition. Unfortunately, the money will not go entirely to this fund, and we will be forced to seek other sources of financing for these investments and initiatives.

(...) I remind you that today marks the 840th day of the blockade of funds from the European Union, and there is no indication that the current Law and Justice government will secure these funds (...). We need this money very much. Polish hospitals and the Polish healthcare system need it badly. The district hospital in Bolesławiec also needs these funds. (...) If you vote for the opposition, if you vote for the Left in the upcoming elections and the government changes, we promise you that KPO funds will also come here to Bolesławiec.

Listen to what else Arkadiusz Sikora said:

At Piłsudski Square in Bolesławiec, in the presence of other Left activists, Arkadiusz Sikora collected signatures and encouraged passers-by to participate in the autumn parliamentary elections.
