On Monday, August 21, just before midnight, an incident occurred. One of the residents noticed the smell of smoke in the stairwell of the high-rise building at 2b Jana Pawła II Street. The firefighters who arrived at the scene checked with gas detectors to see whether anything was leaking or burning. Suddenly, it turned out that a fire had broken out in one of the apartments in the building. Two additional firefighting units were immediately sent to the scene, including a ladder unit for operations at height.
After entering the apartment, it turned out that a pot was on fire in the kitchen. The firefighters extinguished it with a fire extinguisher. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The man who noticed the smoke in the stairwell and alerted the emergency services prevented a tragedy.
