As we read on the website of the Bolesławiec Municipal Office:

The presentation of the 2023 Europe Prize—the Council of Europe’s highest European award for a city—to Bolesławiec provided an opportunity for the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre to initiate an event that will become part of the cultural awareness of both residents and visitors arriving in Bolesławiec. The desire to showcase the exceptionally rich heritage and centuries-old tradition of ceramics, produced here since the Middle Ages, gave rise to the idea of creating an artistic installation.

Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre: – The installation itself is inspired by the image of the peacock as a dignified and proud bird—just as Bolesławiec is proud of its ceramics and the “peacock’s eye” patterns recognizable in almost every corner of the world.

It adds:

The openwork sculpture is made of steel profiles, while its dignified tail is filled with ceramic elements in the form of plates. Each row of plates belongs to a different ceramics factory and displays its characteristic decorative motif.
