The incident occurred on Thursday (September 9) after 8:00 p.m., at the intersection of Staszica and Bohaterów Getta streets. The driver of an Opel failed to yield the right of way to the driver of an Audi. The cars collided. The perpetrator of the collision, a 41-year-old resident of Legnica, tried to flee. However, he was detained by another driver and handed over to the police. It turned out that the Opel driver was completely drunk. He had almost 3‰ alcohol in his system. In addition, the man was banned from driving. The ban had also been issued for driving under the influence of alcohol. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The drunk driver faces up to four years in prison.
