The incident took place overnight from 1 to 2 August. Bolesławiec police:
On 2 August, before 3:00 a.m., a road incident involving two heavy goods vehicles occurred on the A4 motorway towards Zgorzelec. As a result of the collision, the motorway was impassable, and drivers bypassed the closed section of the A4 at the Szczytnica interchange before rejoining the motorway.
Bolesławiec traffic police officers determined that a resident of the Silesian Voivodeship had driven into the rear of the vehicle travelling ahead. A passenger in one of the trucks was taken to hospital. The driver responsible for the collision was fined 1,500 zlotys.

At 2:37 a.m., a report was received about a road accident at kilometre 56 of the A4 motorway. The crews’ actions consisted of securing the scene, providing qualified first aid to the injured person and removing the crash barriers. Police organised a diversion.
