– The duty officer at the Lubin police headquarters was notified about an intoxicated driver who first stole beer from a shelf at a petrol station and then wanted to drive away in a car – reports asp. szt. Sylwia Serafin, press officer of the KPP in Lubin.
The man was so drunk that he drove into the bollards located in front of the station building’s entrance. Seeing the entire incident, an employee ran up to the car in which the perpetrator wanted to drive away, took his car keys, and then notified the police.
The 67-year-old resident of Lubin was detained. The spokeswoman said: – According to the officers’ findings, the sales assistant immediately took notice of the driver because he entered the station without shoes. He wanted to buy beer, but the woman, sensing a strong smell of alcohol from him, refused to sell it.
The suspect was not particularly bothered by this, because he stole a four-pack and left the station. Then he tried to drive away. He did not succeed, however, because he crashed into the aforementioned bollards.
Police:
The officers tested the 67-year-old’s sobriety. It turned out that he had nearly 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his system.
The driver explained to the police that he had run out of beer and wanted to buy more. The extremely irresponsible man lost his driving licence and now faces up to two years in prison.
