On Saturday (4 September), a match in the 5th round of the district league competition was held at the stadium in Warta Bolesławiecka. Two newcomers faced each other on the pitch: GKS Warta Bolesławiecka and Piast Dziwiszów. From the first whistle, the motivation of both teams was evident. As early as the 1st minute, the Warta players could have taken the lead. A free-kick cross caused great confusion in the visitors’ penalty area, but the defenders from Dziwiszów managed to clear the ball. In the 5th minute, Piast players took a dangerous long-range shot. However, the ball went wide of Leszek Kupczak’s goal.
In the 14th minute, GKS took the lead. On the 40-metre mark, Mateusz Mucha won the ball from Piast’s defenders and played a precise pass to Krzysztof Janicki. The latter deceived the goalkeeper with a clever shot and put the ball into the net. In the 29th minute, GKS had a chance to extend its lead, but Krzysztof Janowski’s header flew over the crossbar. In the 41st minute, following a well-worked move, the visitors took advantage of the GKS defenders’ indecision and equalised at 1:1. The goal was scored by Paweł Czerniak.
The beginning of the second half brought no change in either team’s approach to the game. In the 50th minute, Janicki had a chance to score his second goal, but his shot went wide. In the 57th minute, following an error by a player who until recently represented BKS, Dziwiszów could have taken the lead. Janicki’s inaccurate pass to the goalkeeper almost resulted in a conceded goal. In the 61st minute, the GKS goalscorer provided an assist that put the hosts ahead. Łukasz Mikołajczyk was added to the scoresheet. The player scored four minutes after coming onto the pitch. Warta played ambitiously until the very end. In the 74th minute, Jacek Kapecki sent the ball over the goal with a shot from 25 metres. The score did not change for the rest of the match. GKS Warta Bolesławiecka defeated Piast Dziwiszów 2:1. Thus, GKS recorded its fourth victory of this round and collected the full three points.
