– At around 10 a.m., Złotoryja police officers received a report stating that a 1.5-year-old child had become trapped in a car parked in the town center. Due to the high air temperature and the danger this could pose to the child, a community police officer was sent to the scene – reports junior aspirant Dominika Kwakszys, press officer for the District Police Headquarters in Złotoryja.

She adds:

It was established that the woman had left the keys inside the vehicle and was helping the children get out of the car at the time. At one point, the car locked itself, and the 1.5-year-old child was left locked inside. The woman’s phone was also trapped inside the car, so she asked people nearby to call the emergency number 112.

The spokeswoman: – Unfortunately, the woman did not have a second key, and there was no other way to open the car. The window had to be smashed. With the caller’s consent, the police officer broke the window in the front door and then unlocked the rear door, allowing the child, who was sitting in a car seat, to be safely placed in his mother’s arms.

Fortunately, the boy was unharmed and did not require medical attention.

The officers appeal:

During hot weather, the inside of cars becomes extremely hot. The temperature can rise to almost twice the air temperature. Therefore, Złotoryja police officers appeal to drivers not to leave children, elderly people or animals in a locked car. Such situations pose a real threat to health and life. Let us not remain indifferent if we witness such situations. Notify the emergency services by calling 112.
