It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce that on July 20, 2023, our colleague, junior aspirant Patryk Domalik, passed away. He joined the Police in 2013 and throughout his entire professional career was associated with the Zgorzelec District Police Headquarters, where he served in the Traffic Department.
Always smiling and helpful, he willingly shared his knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, on July 17, 2023, he was involved in an accident while on duty.
The Zgorzelec Police have lost an excellent professional with extensive experience, a kind and warm-hearted colleague whom they could always rely on.
The District Police Commander in Zgorzelec, together with police officers and staff, extends his deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the deceased's loved ones.
We inform you that a Mass for Patryk will be held on July 24 at 8:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Boniface in Zgorzelec.

Our information about an accident involving police officers at the exit from the A4 motorway, which occurred yesterday (July 17 – editor's note: istotne.pl) evening in Zgorzelec, has been confirmed.
– At approximately 6:30 p.m., a road accident occurred involving an unmarked police car and a truck. As a result, the police officers were taken to hospital. Under the prosecutor's supervision, an accident reconstruction expert, including a forensic technician, worked at the scene. All the circumstances of the incident will now be examined under the prosecutor's supervision. One police officer was discharged from hospital, while the other was unfortunately transferred to Jelenia Góra. Both police officers were on duty – says Commissioner Agnieszka Goguł, press spokesperson for the Zgorzelec police.
A reader sent us a recording from his dashcam. He drove right past the scene. The video shows that the truck was exiting a minor road, while the police BMW was on the main road.
