On Wednesday, 25 August, the Municipal Civic Platform Board in Bolesławiec decided that councillor Bogusław Nowak would not be included on the Civic Platform list of candidates for the Bolesławiec City Council in this year’s local elections. A resolution was also adopted recommending that councillors who are members of Civic Platform remove Nowak from the Civic Platform Councillors’ Club of the Bolesławiec City Council. The councillors adopted the resolution.
– The reason for these actions was Bogusław Nowak’s radicalism, lack of discipline and uncivil behaviour as a councillor, as well as disloyalty towards the Civic Platform community – Karol Stasik, Chairman of the Civic Platform Board in Bolesławiec, stated in a declaration. Karol Stasik stressed that the declaration of the PO Municipal Board was precise and carefully considered. “The last straw has been reached,” Stasik commented on the situation.
Councillor Bogusław Nowak publicly thanked the councillors for their cooperation and expressed surprise at being expelled from the Civic Platform councillors’ club. – Surprised by the situation, which occurred just after the exceptionally successful Gliniada, whose success the county authorities had boasted about in the media, I asked about the reasons for such a decision – Nowak reports. – However, I was told that I would receive the justification in writing. Bogusław Nowak believes the decision may have resulted from his critical attitude towards the selection of Dariusz Kwaśniewski as the Civic Platform candidate in the presidential election.
Below, we present the statements of Karol Stasik and Bogusław Nowak.
Statement by Karol Stasik, Chairman of the Civic Platform Board in Bolesławiec County.
“On 25 August this year, the Municipal Civic Platform Board in Bolesławiec adopted a resolution not to include Mr Bogusław Nowak on the Civic Platform list of candidates for the Bolesławiec City Council. A resolution was also adopted recommending that councillors who are members of Civic Platform remove Mr Bogusław Nowak from the Civic Platform Councillors’ Club of the Bolesławiec City Council, which the councillors did by vote. The reason for these actions was Mr Bogusław Nowak’s radicalism, lack of discipline and uncivil behaviour as a councillor, as well as disloyalty towards the Civic Platform community.”
Thanks from councillor Bogusław Nowak.
“Cezariusz Rudyk, chairman of the Civic Platform councillors’ club, and Dariusz Kwaśniewski, the county head of the party and candidate for mayor of Bolesławiec, visited me today [27 August 2010] to inform me that at yesterday’s meeting of the Civic Platform Board it had been decided to expel me from the Civic Platform councillors’ club on the Bolesławiec City Council. They also informed me that in the upcoming local elections I would not be able to stand for that council on the Civic Platform list. Surprised by the situation, which occurred just after the exceptionally successful Gliniada, whose success the county authorities had boasted about in the media, I asked about the reasons for such a decision. However, I was told that I would receive the justification in writing. Asking myself why this had happened, I can only suppose that one of the reasons may have been my critical attitude towards Dariusz Kwaśniewski’s candidacy. I never thought he was a good candidate capable of defeating Piotr Roman for mayor. I did not hide my opinion and conveyed it to the candidate himself. Nevertheless, I thank the Civic Platform councillors for nearly four years of cooperation on the City Council. I hope that the Civic Platform councillors will be satisfied with their decision and that an atmosphere they support will prevail in the Civic Platform club. Bogusław Nowak”.
