On stage, the mayor invited all official guests: MPs from KO and PiS, a former marshal, as well as representatives of partner cities, and together with members of the Ceramic Brotherhood, they symbolically handed over the keys to the city of ceramics.

The entire ceremony was short and concise. It began with a shared dance by members of the Association of Re-emigrants from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends, together with dancers from the “Ziemi Bolesławieckiej” Song and Dance Ensemble, accompanied by a short speech from the head of the Association, Halina Waniak. The chairwoman symbolically welcomed the re-emigrants and invited them to dance together.

Under the agreement he concluded with BOK–MCC, Bogusław Nowak was supposed to prepare and produce an outdoor theatrical performance inaugurating the 32nd Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival. The agreement was worth PLN 10,000. On July 21, Nowak announced the performance on Facebook.

– On August 21, the opening will also take place with us, so I invite everyone who wants to take part in this special 80th anniversary of the arrival of re-emigrants from the Balkans. We simply want to pay tribute to those first post-war builders of our city, who rebuilt the destroyed fabric of the beautiful tenement houses in the Market Square and along the entire streets – Nowak invited.

In another material, he appealed for people to collect old suitcases because more than 60 period costumes were to be prepared. Apparently, he was supposed to organize a parade of people carrying suitcases painted with clay slip, symbolizing the first Polish newcomers to Bolesławiec.

Nowak as an intern at the festival opening

However, to the viewers’ surprise, Nowak, his son and three young people merely walked in the procession and watched the opening. With his face painted with clay slip and wearing a thick coat probably styled as a 1946 re-emigrant’s outfit, he stood among the audience and did not even take part in the dance procession.

We asked the organizers what role Bogusław Nowak had played in organizing the modest dance and Halina Waniak’s speech, and whether he would receive the PLN 10,000 stipulated in the agreement. Last year, he received PLN 15,000 for descending by rope from the town hall tower in a winged costume.

They will not pay Nowak

The organizers unanimously stated that Nowak would not receive remuneration for attending the opening.

– Mr. Nowak will not receive money for being at the festival opening; only the performance by the Ziemi Bolesławieckiej Song and Dance Ensemble will be paid for – said mayor Piotr Roman.

It was more difficult to obtain such a statement from Kornel Filipowicz. At first, he pretended not to know anything about the agreement with Nowak, even though it was already listed in the system. Then, under pressure, he confirmed that Nowak would not be paid.

Sławomir Ratajski, the organizational manager of the Song and Dance Ensemble, said that the concept for the opening had been different and did not want to answer whether it had changed because Nowak was removed from the event following hate-filled posts on his profile.

A penalty for hate-filled posts?

Nowak’s profile regularly features terms such as: “rags”, “cattle”, “pig”, “scoundrels”, “owls”, “sluts”, as well as calls for specific people to be thrown “out on their ear” or sent “for disposal” (this was said about Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty). Nowak’s actions met with strong reactions from politicians. Piotr Borys described them as: “Exceptionally disgusting.” Arkadiusz Sikora: “Simply scandalous,” while Szymon Pogoda said: “I will not stoop to the level…”

We assume that the politicians’ strong reactions forced the festival organizers to remove Nowak from view and reorganize the artistic part of the festival opening at the last minute.

UPDATE, August 21, 2026

After publishing the article, we established that the agreement described by us concerning the preparation and production of an outdoor theatrical performance inaugurating the 32nd Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival had been terminated.

At the same time, information published in the Central Register of Contracts indicates that the tasks previously provided for in this agreement are to be carried out under another, already existing agreement – UoD/3/2026.

This means that Bogusław Nowak will not receive remuneration under the terminated agreement described in the article. However, this does not mean that tasks related to his participation in the Ceramic Festival have been entirely excluded from paid cooperation – they are to be carried out under agreement UoD/3/2026 for PLN 50,000.
