As reported by the Wrocław branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, the installation of cameras on gantries over the A4 motorway, on the 8-kilometre stretch between the Kostomłoty and Kąty Wrocławskie junctions, will be completed today. The road manager said: – As part of the work being carried out, the motorway’s left lane will be closed to traffic.

GDDKiA explains:

The location was selected following a road traffic safety analysis conducted jointly by GDDKiA and GITD. This section of the motorway has no emergency lane and is subject to a speed limit of 110 km/h. Between 2018 and 2022, nearly thirty accidents occurred here, in which around fifty people were injured. Due to the scale and consequences of the road incidents occurring on this section, it is necessary to place it under permanent speed monitoring.

It adds:

The use of section speed measurements, operated by CANARD (the Centre for Automatic Traffic Supervision, an organisational unit of GITD), leads to a reduction in the number of incidents related to exceeding the applicable speed limits. Thus, it significantly improves the level of safety for all road users.
