How did the scammer operate?
Spokeswoman:
The suspect created fake accounts on a social networking site and offered tickets to music concerts, sports galas and other musical events. Unfortunately, nine customers who paid for their purchases never received the tickets they ordered. The losses he caused through his criminal activity to the detriment of the victims amounted to nearly PLN 4,500.
The arrested man confessed. He now faces up to eight years in prison. Police:
We appeal to everyone who shops online to exercise caution when making decisions. What may seem to us like an exceptionally good and inexpensive deal is not always an honest transaction. When buying tickets for various sporting or cultural events, the safest option is to purchase them through entities authorized and licensed to sell and distribute tickets.
