The incident occurred at around 8 p.m. in Pielgrzymka municipality. – The 48-year-old cyclist, who was riding in a zigzagging manner, was stopped for a roadside inspection – reports junior aspirant Dominika Kwakszys of the District Police Headquarters in Złotoryja.
She adds: – Seeing the man’s behaviour, the officers immediately decided to check whether he was sober. A breathalyser test showed that he had nearly 3‰ of alcohol in his system. His bicycle journey therefore ended there, and he had to walk home.
She further explains: – For the traffic offence he committed, he also received a fine of PLN 2,500.

We remind you that irresponsible cyclists who travel on public roads or in traffic or residential zones while under the influence of alcohol or intoxicated may be fined by officers: PLN 1,000 when the test result is up to 0.5‰ of alcohol in the body, and PLN 2,500 above 0.5‰.

However, those responsible for these traffic offences must bear in mind that officers may refer the case to court, in which event the financial penalty may be much higher.
