The incident occurred on May 9 in the afternoon. – The duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski was informed about a man who, in Gryfów Śląski, was standing on one of the bridges on the other side of the railings, threatening to commit suicide – reports Senior Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer for the Lwówek KPP. – Police officers and other emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene.

She adds:

Police officers from the Police Station in Gryfów Śląski, Sergeant Łukasz Martyniak and Sergeant Jacek Horbanowicz, began negotiations. While speaking with the 26-year-old, the officers maintained eye contact with him at all times, urging him to move to the other side of the railings.

The negotiations, which lasted several dozen minutes and were conducted professionally, had a positive outcome: the officers dissuaded the young man from carrying out his plan. He was taken to hospital.

The officers say:
