Magdalena Szumiata, press spokesperson for the Wrocław branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways:

Thank you very much for the information, and at the same time, we thank the Reader for their vigilance. Unfortunately, thefts of road infrastructure do happen. It is a very unfortunate incident because a thief stealing from a road creates a direct threat to the life and health of people travelling. In this case, one element had been unscrewed and tilted towards the traffic lane. It was possible to screw it back in, while whatever was destroyed will be restored. The matter has been reported to the police.

She adds:

At the same time, we appeal to everyone who notices suspicious behaviour by roads that could indicate theft to inform the nearest police station or call the road helpline at 19111.

Let us remind you. On Monday, we reported that the Reader wrote to us via WhatsApp:

Someone is dismantling the railings on the bridge over the A4 in Wykroty. The thieves made off with the grilles.

And added: – One railing is already completely stripped of its grilles.

And added:

On the other side, half of it and a handful of bolts and nuts remain, and they could fall onto the roadway below if they do not disappear first.

The penalty for theft is between three months and as much as five years in prison.
