The Ceramic Festival is building its brand ever more clearly. It effectively promotes the city, and the event stands out among others in the region. If a tourist wants to buy agates, they will go to Lwówek; heather products, to Borówki near Gromadka. If they are looking for original, hand-painted ceramics, Boleslawiec is meant to attract them. The Ceramic Festival is an attractive promotion of the distinctive product our city can take pride in and through which it earns money.

Since Wednesday, the “Ceramic Whirlwind” market has been taking place in the Market Square. Visitors can choose from a rich assortment of ceramic products from the Bolesławiec region and Poland. On the slope by the sanctuary, artist Mateusz Grobelny will build a unique ceramic kiln, “Arches of Fire” – a structure inspired by the Bolesławiec viaduct. The longest table with ceramic tableware will be arranged on Sierpnia ’80 Street – an exhibition by Bolesławiec manufacturers. Last year, a similar table set a Guinness World Record.

A “Ceramic Animation Town” will be built at the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramic Centre. It will host, among other things, pottery-wheel workshops, ceramic-vessel decorating, biscuit painting and stamping, as well as a ceramic fantasy garden – art workshops for young children. The ceramic town for children was extremely popular last year. Of nearly two thousand votes cast in a survey by the IstotneInformacje.pl portal, it took first place with 597 votes. Also for children, Krakow Street Theatre will present “Soap Opera” – a show featuring giant soap bubbles, while the Wałbrzych Theatre of Puppetry and Actor will present “The Tale of the Knight Without a Horse”.

Concerts by invited stars will be a major attraction: Patrycja Markowska and her band will sing on Friday, Shakin’ Dudi on Saturday, and Perfect on Sunday. Fans of more classical repertoire can enjoy “Classics Under the Stars” – the greatest operetta and musical hits. For opera and good-film enthusiasts, an open-air cinema will be organised and the film “The Phantom of the Opera” will be screened. A large screen, like a cinema screen measuring 12 m by 6 m, will be installed at Piłsudskiego Square.
