On May 19, from the early morning hours, Lower Silesian police officers will conduct intensified checks under the code name “Speed”. The Press Section of the KWP Wrocław:

The operations will mainly involve officers from road-traffic units, who will check above all whether drivers comply with speed limits and use the roads in accordance with the regulations.

And adds:

The activities carried out by police officers will include both statistical measurements, including “cascade” checks involving frequent changes of measuring points, and dynamic operations using unmarked police cars. They will take place primarily in areas where hazards occur, while their intensity will depend on the number of traffic violations committed by drivers.

The officers add:

The campaign is aimed not only at identifying offenders, but also at condemning their negative behaviour on the roads. It should be remembered that inadequate preparation for a journey, recklessness, and failure to adjust speed to the prevailing weather conditions and applicable regulations repeatedly lead to incidents with very serious consequences.

They also stress:

During this type of operation, officers carry out their duties in a way that instils in drivers the conviction that driving at excessive speed is dangerous and that punishment for creating a threat to traffic safety is inevitable.

During the previous “Speed” operations, Lower Silesian police officers checked nearly 3,000 vehicles. Almost 2,000 drivers failed to comply with the applicable speed limits.
