We warmly welcomed the request from Daniel, a father who sent our editorial office photos from a mountain trip during which his blind son Samuel traveled on his parent’s back.
"I am the father of a blind child with cerebral palsy. For some time now, my wife, our sick son and I have been hiking in the mountains, conquering successive peaks of the Crown of Polish Mountains. Recently, we completed the Drabina Wałbrzyska route. We are looking for a station that could help publicize our story, allowing us to reach more people. Our son needs constant rehabilitation, which is why we have an open fundraiser for this purpose. I want to show that disability has no limits and that much can be achieved when you have kind-hearted people around you."
The parents organize mountain trips from time to time. During the May weekend, Samuel, carried on his father’s back, took on a very demanding and interesting trail: five peaks belonging to the Drabina Wałbrzyska route—approximately 80 kilometers and 4,000 meters of elevation gain. The entire route is divided into several stages.
The next one has already been scheduled for June 10. You can sign up and go into the mountains for Samuel: Korona Sokołowska with Samuel.
This is how Samuel’s father describes the event:
"It was not always easy... The route had more difficult stages. Samuel was with us in a carrier, and sometimes in a stroller when the road allowed it. Friends accompanied us on the journey. We supported one another and did not give up, because everyone knew they were hiking for Samuel! What is our goal in taking a disabled child onto mountain trails and gathering people who want to accompany us? Precisely this: to publicize our story and show Samuel, who, supported by his parents, fights for his physical abilities every day."
