During Wednesday’s session of the Bolesławiec City Council, councillors adopted a resolution approving the election of the Deputy Chair of the Bolesławiec City Council’s Economic Development and Finance Committee. Agnieszka Słota became the committee’s deputy head. Ten councillors voted in favour, while two (the person concerned and Bogdan Biernat from the Law and Justice club) abstained. Most opposition councillors did not take part in the vote.

Let us recall. At the beginning of April, we reported that a new head of the Bolesławiec City Council’s Economic Development and Finance Committee had been elected. It was the committee’s then deputy head, Stanisław Wiącek, from the Bezpartyjni i Ziemia Bolesławiecka councillors’ club.

Councillors adopted the resolution with 13 votes in favour. The newly appointed chair replaced former councillor Dariusz Filistyński.

How did this come about? At the end of last year, we reported:

One of the items on the agenda of the December session of the Bolesławiec City Council was a vote on a draft resolution to dismiss a councillor from the position of Chair of the Bolesławiec City Council’s Economic Development and Finance Committee.

The document’s justification stated: “On 6 December 2022, the Bezpartyjni i Ziemia Bolesławiecka Councillors’ Club submitted a motion to dismiss councillor Dariusz Filistyński from the position of Chair of the Bolesławiec City Council’s Economic Development and Finance Committee. In view of the above, adopting this resolution is justified.”

At the time, the head of the Bezpartyjni i Ziemia Bolesławiecka club, Łukasz Jaźwiec, argued that the motion was connected solely with the fact that councillor D. Filistyński had left the club in September.

The person concerned issued a statement in which he said that he regarded the move “as a political decision.”
