– The Investigation Department of the Jawor police headquarters conducted proceedings concerning a series of scams involving the purchase of eco-coal. Officers established that as many as 11 people from across the country purchased this type of fuel from a 31-year-old resident of Jawor County – reports junior warrant officer Tomasz Nowak.
He adds:
The eco-coal was offered for sale through one of the well-known online sales platforms. Despite receiving payments, the scammer failed to fulfill the agreement and never delivered the goods to the buyers. The victims repeatedly tried to contact the seller about the matter, but this did not produce the expected result.
Investigators meticulously gathered evidence, which made it possible to bring a total of 11 charges against the suspect. The losses caused by the 31-year-old through his scheme amounted to more than PLN 31,000.
The scammer now faces between six months and as many as eight years in prison.
